Proper Repeater Conduct for the KD1XP Repeaters!
Proper Repeater Conduct for the KD1XP Repeaters!
All of the KD1XP Repeaters are open to any and all licensed Amateur Radio Operators. Proper conduct with the following Amatuers Creed in mind:
Considerate...never knowingly uses the air in such a way to lesson the pleasure of others.
Friendly...slow and patient sending when requested, friendly advice and consel to the beginner, kindly assistance, cooperation and consideration for the interests of others. These are marks of the Amateur Spirit.
All 4 of the KD1XP Repeaters may be used to any wide range of conversation and Emergency Service.
Keep in mind you never know who is listening and at what hour. All sorts of people, including scanner listeners might be listening. Keep the conversations clean. This is a G rated system and no grater than a PG 13 rating in the Evening. We want to set an example that we are using the Amateur Radio spectrum in a presentable way.
All stations must identify, every 10 minutes and AFTER the end of the conversation. Failure to do so will be considered interference and treated as such.
The KD1XP Repeater System is a private repeater system. The owner of this system and his license are responsible for the operations of the system. KD1XP does NOT own the frequencies that they operate on, however, KD1XP DOES own the equipment that they operate in this area. This means, the Amateur Radio Operator that uses this system must comply with any and all wishes of KD1XP. If KD1XP does not wish he or she to be on the repeater system, then he or she must obey. This can be found in Part 97.205 (e) which states, "Limiting the use of a repeater to only certain user stations is permissible." That is very cut and dry, use of the repeater system is privillage and not a right. Another way of looking at this is that when you are using a repeater, you are in effect a visitor to the owners station. So, please conduct yourself accordingly. If a person or persons is asked to leave the repeater system and those individual choose to continue to use the system, then they are considered interference and will be treated as such.
The repeaters have a 3 minute timer, please try not to time out. The time out timer is there to make sure that the transmitter (s) reset and not "burn up", if you will. Also, it is to satisfy regulation 97.213 (b).
Do not use CB Lingo and the Q codes. It is unneccessary and sounds silly on a FM Repeater. Just talk normal and never mind the roger on the qsl, 10-4 and back at the QTH, November One November Oscar Zulu Clear.
The expense of maintaining the repeater system is quite expensive. If you use the system, it is suggested that you please consider a donation in any amount to help expenses.
